Elijah Hodge’s tangible contributions were quite evident, with 20 of his game-high 22 points coming in a rollercoaster second half. But the play that best exemplified the personality of his Linden team, said coach Phil Colicchio, put someone else in the scoring column. Dan Thompson caught a kickout from Hodge and buried a 3-pointer with 49 seconds left in the game to put fifth-seeded Linden in front, 58-55, in the quarterfinals of the Union County Tournament at Roselle Catholic. Those were the only points for the sophomore guard. ``Forget all the points he had,’’ Colicchio said of Hodge. ``The biggest play of the game was when he drove baseline, drew the trap and then found Thompson wide open. To me, that says everything about our team right now. We’ve learned to trust one another.’’ Linden will need trust, and probably a little something extra, when it battles top-seeded and top-ranked St. Patrick in the semifinals at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Elizabeth Dunn Center. ``I feel good about our team. We’re going to go out there and compete,’’ Hodge said. Hodge, only a sophomore, looked like a veteran leader late in the game, scoring 10 points in the third quarter, then sinking all 10 of his free throws in the fourth to spur a 20-14 run. He tied the game at 55-55 on two foul shots with 1:23 to play and forged a 60-57 lead on two more with 35 seconds left. Junior guard Aishon White erupted with 19 of his 21 points in the second half for fourth-seeded and No. 17 Union. Quadeer Lewis scored 18 points and Romell Bateman had 14 points and 14 rebounds for Linden.
